The MiTo (which derives from the Italian word which means myth) is a city car produced by Alfa Romeo from 2008 to 2019 and based on the “FGA Small” platform also adopted in the Fiat Punto 3rd gen. It is proposed as a city car (among other things, it’s the only car of this type ever produced by the “Biscione” brand) that focuses on style and practicality. The rounded headlights and triangular front grille give the MiTo a style of its own, which I think is lacking in many other small cars, such as the Lancia Ypsilon… Other city cars that maintain their own style are the Toyota Yaris and the Volkswagen Polo (from which also the Audi A1 derives). Returning to the MiTo, the interiors offer decent quality, but they are not lavish. This Italian car lags a bit behind also as regards the on-board technologies, which offer nothing special compared to those of most of the competition. Even the optional display is quite small and not very intuitive. During its life, the Alfa Romeo MiTo has two restyling: one in 2013, which makes the design more sporty and pleasant, and one in 2016, which is present in the photo and proves to be almost identical to the 2013 version. In these last two facelifts, the MiTo can reach up to 170 horsepower, which makes it very fun to drive. In 2009 the MiTo Veloce version was presented, offering 180 horsepower, but which was only sold in the Netherlands. But, unfortunately, the base engine (70HP) isn’t sportive at all. The Giulietta is often considered a sort of more advanced variant of this vehicle.
