What is it?
The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is a luxury Coupe born in 2018 as the heir of the Vanquish AM310. It reuses the DBS name that previously belonged to a model produced from 1967 to 1972 and adds the wording Superleggera, a name that pays homage to the Italian company of the same name which in the 60s and 70s was involved in the development of several successful Aston Martins. In Italian Superleggera means super light, which however the DBS is not, weighing 1845kg due to its imposing dimensions (4,72 x 1,96 meters) and its very bulky V12 engine. In essence, the DBS Superleggera takes part in the group of elegant and extreme sports cars alongside the Ferrari 812 Superfast and the Bentley Continental GT.
Design
The DBS Superleggera is based on the same platform as the DB11, but, compared to the latter, it adopts two large air intakes on the sides of the front grille, which has also been enlarged. The aerodynamic profile and the management of air flows are probably the best that can be found on a car. An example of this is the vertical load of 180kg, achieved when the DBS travels at its top speed of 340km/h. Stunning data like this can only be the result of a combination of form and functionality that few sports cars can boast.
Mechanics
The DBS is equipped with a powerful BiTurbo engine that delivers 725HP of power and 900NM of torque, ensuring acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 3,4 seconds. The drive is rear and the gearbox is 8-speed automatic.
