In 2020 the Audi A3 8V, produced for eight years, is retired from the arrival of the 8Y, configurable in both the Sportback version ( pictured) and the Sedan version. The design is much more aggressive than before, and follows the general trend of the new designs of the Ingolstadt brand; the new honeycomb grille is a good example of it. The dimensions are 4,34 x 1,81 meters, and make this vehicle fall within the range of premium small-medium size cars. The front and rear headlights also give a tone of aggression to this vehicle. Inside we find two surprises: one positive and one negative. The positive one is that the technologies are of the highest level and are meant to compete head-on with those of rivals such as the Mercedes A-Class and the BMW 1 Series. In addition to the beautiful Virtual Cockpit for the driver, an HD LCD touch screen 10” display dominates the cockpit, and offers all kinds of customizations with a few clicks. The screen also gives a short vibration when pressed, which is very satisfying. Among the (very expensive) options we find the super-advanced Audi MMI system and the Head Up Display. The bad news is that the excellent build quality that characterized the previous model does not seem to be the same, since there is a large use of rigid plastics, while the previous model was known for its soft materials. The same thing also happens for the Audi A1 2020. The engines, both diesel and petrol, range from 110 to 204 horsepower. Fuel consumption is quite low in very configuration. For the first time there is also a hybrid MHEV engine. The introductory price of this jewel is already very high in itself, and in addition the options are definitely overpriced… It is not difficult to exceed 45.000€!
