The E87, launched in 2004, was the first BMW Series 1 ever produced. Its aim was to replace the Series 3 Compact, whose sales had been particularly disappointing. From 2007, also the Coupe and Cabriolet versions appeared. To date, the 1 Series has sold one million units, proving to be one of BMW’s greatest successes. But in this sector of compact premium cars, there are also many competitors, like the Audi A3 and the Mercedes A-Class. The production of this vehicle ends after three years in 2007.
