What is it?

Introduced in 2018, the X7 was intended to be and still is the most imposing vehicle in the entire BMW range. The goal was to create a large SUV that would be successful in America, in which, unlike in Europe, having cars longer than 5 meters is not a problem, as the parking lots and the roads are very large. In fact, the X7 measures 5,15 x 2,00 meters.

Design and Interior

The X7 maintains the aesthetic lines of the rest of the range, closely resembling the X5, but larger. Even the interior, characterized by a comfortable environment and an infotainment both touch screen and adjustable via the typical “iDrive” knob, is almost identical to that of the X5. Upon request, the X7 can be configured in a 7-seater version.

Mechanics

The X7 is based on the proven CLAR platform, shared with many high-end BMW brand cars as well as with the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Phantom 8th gen. The engines initially available were the 30d (265HP), 40i (340HP), M50d (400HP) and 50i (462HP). All engines are mated to an 8-speed StepTronic automatic transmission.

In 2019, the 530HP and 750NM super sports variant M50i debuted.
In 2020, two mild-hybrid variants were presented: a 340HP 40d and a 333HP 40i. The old 30d, 40i (the non-hybrid one), 50i and M50d were discontinued in the same year.
