With the advent of its 3rd gen. in 2010, the Lotus Elise has a similar but more attractive and simplified design as regards the exterior, while the interior remains the same as the previous generation. The dimensions are just 3,82 x 1,71 meters, while the weight varies from 904 to 931 kilograms. This means that the Elise is a super-light car, comparable to the Italian Alfa Romeo 4C. The cheapest version, named simply “Elise”, is the first presented and features a small 4-cylinder 163HP engine. This basic Elise receives a lot of appreciation from the press for its great drivability and reasonable price. The same 163HP engine is later adopted for the special “Club Racer” limited edition, which is very similar but 24 kilograms lighter. One year later, Lotus introduces the premium Elise S, which equips a 1.8-liter 220HP engine. This motorization guarantees outstanding performance: it takes just 4,6 seconds to reach 100km/h. The Elise A costs around 10.000 €/$ more than the standard Elise. In 2013, the special Elise S Cup R joins the market and surprises everybody with its big spoiler in carbon fiber and innovative aerodynamic solutions, but its performance is, however, the same as the Elise S until, in 2017, it receives an update (pictured) where a new 250HP motor arrives. This engine pushes the new “Cup 250” from 0 to 100km/h in 4,3 seconds!
