Presented in 2018 and produced starting the following year in a limited series (106 units), the McLaren Speedtail is a hypercar belonging to the very exclusive “McLaren Ultimate Series” family together with F1, P1, and Senna. In this car with gull-wing doors, many details seem to have been created to guarantee excellent aerodynamics: in addition to the teardrop design, the retractable cameras that act as rear-view mirrors can be retracted once the “Velocity Mode ” is activated. The presence of retractable cameras instead of rearview mirrors made the Speedtail illegal in North America. Another innovative element is noticeable in the use of electrochromic glass for the construction of the windows and windshield. This special glass allows the passengers to darken the windows of the car by pressing a simple button. Much of the body of the car and the rims are made of carbon fiber allowing the Speedtail to weigh just 1430 kilos, very little for a car that is 5,13 meters long. Inside, the Speedster is large enough to accommodate three people in a single row. The driver is centrally located and is surrounded by three huge multifunction displays: the two on the sides are touch screens, while the central cockpit is adjustable using the numerous buttons of the steering wheel. The beating heart of this hypercar is a powerful 1036HP 4.0 V8 hybrid engine, which makes the Speedtail the fastest McLaren ever, as well as one of the fastest cars in the world: the Speedtail takes just 12,8 seconds to go from 0 to 300km/h (186mp/h).
