Identifiable by the code name “W447”, the 3rd gen. Mercedes V-Class is a light commercial vehicle known for its reliability. Sometimes, the V-Class is also called “Vito”. Actually, the second is very similar but more passenger-oriented than a pure commercial van. Starting from 2014, the W447 is sold in three different sizes: 489 (called “Compact”), 514 (“Long”), or 537 (“Extra Long”) centimeters in length. Even the wheelbase of the car has a variable dimension: 320 or 343 cm. Subjected to Euro NCAP crash tests, the W447 proved to be extremely safe, achieving the maximum result of five stars. The interior finishes have a quality above the average for the category. In the pre-facelift version, the engines available are three, all diesel; the basic variant develops 136HP, the intermediate 163, and the flagship 190. The W447 is also configurable as an AWD vehicle. In 2019, a substantial facelift (pictured) was introduced: thanks to this facelift, the whole exterior looks more premium and in step with the times. Furthermore, the engine range was updated and a full-electric variant called “EQV” was introduced as a concept. All the other engines are diesel, and can now develop 163, 190, or 239HP. The only gearbox available is a seven-speed automatic.
