The Mercedes W114 and W115 are mid-size luxury cars produced by Mercedes between 1968 and 1976. W114 is the abbreviation that identifies the variants with a 6-cylinder engine, while W115 is those with 4 or 5 cylinders, but this vehicle is commonly known by the German name “Strichacht”, which internationally means “/8”. This nickname indicates the last digit of the year in which the W114 and W115 were presented. Compared to its predecessor (the W110 “Heckflosse”), the W114 and W115 feature a completely redesigned chassis, which thanks to its steel auxiliary structure proved to be more resistant. Several petrol and diesel engines were initially offered ranging from 55 to 130HP. Over the years, more and more powerful engines up to 185HP have been added to the range. As for the gearbox, it was possible to choose between a 4-speed manual or a 3-speed automatic, while all four wheels equip disk brakes.
