The Aixam, a product of the car manufacturer of the same name, is a minicar (or microcar) widely sold in Europe produced in France which, having an engine of less than 500cc, can be driven approximately (the law varies state by state) from the age of 14. All versions have only two seats and a trunk almost as small as that of a Smart since none of them exceeds 3 meters in length. It can be configured in the “miniauto”, the electric “E-Aixam” and the sporty “Emotion” versions, and then you can choose the set-up between standard, Coupe (in the photo), and Crossline. Despite the basic prices as high as those of respectable city cars such as the Fiat 500, the basic set-up does not even offer air conditioning! In fact, it ranges from about 9.000 to over 15.000€. If well equipped, however, the interior is very pleasant. An interesting feature of the engine is that it always goes at low revs: in the GTI version it cannot exceed 3200 rpm on any occasion. The whole is obviously not possessing a gearbox. The brakes are front disc and rear drum. The top speed is electronically limited to 45km/h. Consumption is very low, and autonomy can reach 500-600 km depending on the version chosen, but much less with electrical configurations.
