What is it?

Called “C_Two” at the design stage, the Rimac Nevera is a high-performance electric hypercar. It’s the direct successor of Concept One and, just as the latter was in its time, it’s in many aspects the best performing electric car ever built. The Nevera was presented at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show and its production of 150 units began in late 2020. All units were bought just three weeks after the announcement that the sale of the Nevera would begin. The price is 2.440.000$ in North America and an average of 2.000.000€ in Europe.

Design

The Nevera measures 4,75 x 1,98 meters and has a very low dry weight for an electric car: 1950 kilograms. The aesthetic lines of the car are aimed at obtaining excellent aerodynamics (Cx = 0.28), rather than on the aesthetic impact or originality. However, there are some goodies, such as gull-wing doors.

Interior

The infotainment consists of a large central touch screen display, a virtual cockpit for the driver and a small information display for the passenger in full Ferrari F8 style. Thanks to the use of much more digital than analog technologies, the Nevera proves to be a fairly advanced car even though it cannot equip particular mechanic features to remain light. Inside there are numerous inserts in carbon fiber, a material that also makes up a large part of the car’s body.

Technology

The Rimac Nevera is also a very intelligent vehicle: a complex system consisting of 8 cameras, a lidar system, 6 radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors combined with a first-rate AI gives the car a fourth-level autonomous driving capability, that is, almost total. Starting from 2022, the car will be able to suggest to the drivers how to improve their performances thanks to the “AI Driving Coach” technology, which studies the driver’s driving style. The available driving modes are Comfort, Range, Sport, Drift, Track and two personalized ones.

The beating heart of this car are four electric motors, one for each wheel, which guarantee a total power of 1914HP and a record torque of 2300NM. Thanks to its excellent aerodynamics, low weight and extraordinary motor, the Rimac Nevera is confirmed as the fastest electric car ever with a top speed of 412 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 in just 1,97 seconds. The car is also equipped with a 120kWh battery, which allows the Nevera to cover 650 kilometers in the mixed cycle. This battery supports fast-charging up to 250kW, thanks to which it is hypothetically able to recharge to 80% in just 30 minutes.
