In 2012 Skoda revived the name “Rapid” (previously used in 1935 and 1984) to launch a premium city car in both Sedan (five-door) and “Spaceback” (three-door) versions. The Sedan and the Spaceback are generally similar but have important differences in terms of size: while the first measures 4,48 meters in length, the second is just 430 centimeters long; the width and the height remain unchanged. With a 5-star rating, the Rapid’s structure proved to have excellent impact resistance in the Euro NCAP crash tests. Very similar to the 4th gen. Seat Toledo, the interior has average build quality and technologies. A splendid panoramic roof is available as optional for the Spaceback. The engines can be diesel or petrol, and vary from 75 to 125HP. The 1st gen. Rapid never received a facelift and was globally discontinued in 2019; the 2nd gen. was launched the same year only in Russia and is distinguished by updated aesthetics and technologies.
