In 2012 Skoda revived the name “Rapid” (previously used in 1935 and 1984) to launch a premium city car in both Sedan (five-door) and “Spaceback” (three-door) versions. The Sedan and the Spaceback are generally similar but have important differences in terms of size: while the first measures 4,48 meters in length, the second is just 430 centimeters long; the width and the height remain unchanged. With a 5-star rating, the Rapidโ€™s structure proved to have excellent impact resistance in the Euro NCAP crash tests. Very similar to the 4th gen. Seat Toledo, the interior has average build quality and technologies. A splendid panoramic roof is available as optional for the Spaceback. The engines can be diesel or petrol, and vary from 75 to 125HP. The 1st gen. Rapid never received a facelift and was globally discontinued in 2019; the 2nd gen. was launched the same year only in Russia and is distinguished by updated aesthetics and technologies.
