Unlike the first generation, which was a very simple city car with no pretensions, the Aygo 2nd gen. (code name AB40) presents itself with a refined and original design: the X-shaped front and the combination of the color chosen during the purchase phase and the standard part in glossy black, which covers the entire trunk and crosses the entire body of the car until it flows into the headlights. Most of the components are shared with the Peugeot 108. The body is offered in both 3-door and 5-door versions, but only one engine is available: a 69 horsepower 1.0 petrol engine, which can be paired with an automatic or a five-speed manual gearbox. As standard, we find the “Hill Assist”, which helps the driver to set off on particularly steep terrain, while you can also buy some advanced options, such as parking sensors and the navigator. Its technologies will then be revised later in 2018, with the arrival of this second generation facelift. In NCAP crash tests, the 2014 Aygo scored 4 stars, which is good considering it is a city car.
