What is it?

The seventh generation of the Volkswagen Jetta is, like its predecessors, a spacious notchback car sold in the United States, China and South Korea starting in 2018. In 2021, the Jetta underwent a slight restyling.

Compared to the rest of the VW range, the Jetta has classic and conventional lines, resulting in a sober and inconspicuous car. The dimensions stand at 4,70 meters in length and 1,80 meters in width. The internal instrumentation, as well as the interior finishes, have a quality in line with the competition, consisting of cars such as the Skoda Octavia and the Honda Civic. There is no lack of assistance and safety systems for driving. Regarding the latter, the Jetta achieved an excellent result of 5 out of 5 stars in the NHTSA crash tests.

Mechanics

The Jetta is based on the well-known modular MQB platform, also used for various VW cars such as the Golf and T-Roc, as well as for various models of the Audi, Skoda and Seat brands, as they are all managed by VW. The pre-facelift version of this vehicle was offered in two variants, both petrol: a 1.4 150HP with 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic gearbox and a 2.0 230HP inherited from the Golf GTi with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed double-clutch automatic gearbox.

Evolution

In 2021, a slight facelift introduced some aesthetic and mechanical changes: the grille and headlights were revisited, and the base engine, the 1.4 150HP, was replaced by a 1.5 160HP. The 230HP 2.0 engine remained unchanged.
