Known as the successor of the 575M and predecessor of the F12 Berlinetta, the Ferrari 599 is a sumptuous and powerful Coupe produced from 2007 to 2012. This car’s body is long (4,66 meters) and slender, and, as always on a Ferrari, attention to detail is impressive. The 599 was produced in four road variants: the GTB Fiorano, HGTE, GTO, and SA Aperta. If we don’t consider the Enzo, the GTB (Gran Turismo Berlinetta) Fiorano, was the fastest V12 vehicle ever produced by the Maranello’s brand when it came out, but it was however slower than the Lamborghini Murcielago (3,7 vs 3,3 seconds in the 0-100km/h). Its 6-liter 620HP engine is inherited directly from the Enzo and is known for its loud and deep sound. The 599 GTB Fiorano is also the first Ferrari to feature suspension with magnetorheological control. The 599 HGTE (Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione) presents, compared to the GTB Fiorano, a faster gearbox with a response time of less than 100 milliseconds and was also produced on the exclusive “60F1” variant, which offers new seats and rims and is built with a large use of premium materials, or carbon fiber and Alcantara. Mechanically, roll and understeer were reduced. The 599 GTO (Gran Turismo Omologata) has a more powerful engine (670HP) and is around 150kg lighter (now 1495kg) than the GTB Fiorano. Thanks to its incredible power to weight ratio, the GTO reaches 100km/h in just 3,3 seconds. The 599 SA Aperta, where “S” stays for Sergio and “A” for Adrea (two important automotive designers), is a convertible version of the GTO Fiorano. This variant was produced in 80 exemplary to celebrate the 80th birthday of Pininfarina. The Ferrari 599 was also produced in four variants thought for Competitions: the 599XX, 599XX EVO, HY-KERS, and Formula Drift. The latter is built with very special materials such as grass fiber and features a 900HP engine.
