After many years, the Jaguar S-Type returns in 1999 with a very different shape. It is, of course, a sports car but particularly large, in fact, its length reaches almost five meters. This allows the S-Type to compete with German luxury sedans such as the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class and other important cars like the Saab 9-5 and the Volvo S80. The design is not very modern and focuses on the classicism of the brand, which Jaguar lovers have always appreciated. The result is that many elements of the oval grille recall the world of 60s cars. The interior also has a classic style with often many wood inserts. The digital navigator was already present at the time among the options. The structure of the same of that of the Lincoln LS and the Ford Thunderbird, and all the proposed engines are powerful: ranging from the 200 horsepower of the base engine to 395 of the “Type R” version with a 4.2-liter V8 engine, which reaches 100km/h in 5.6 seconds. In the first years of its production, the S-Type brings good commercial results, but a new generation nor a restyling will ever come, and in 2008 it goes out of production.
