Produced in almost 1,3 million units, the Opel Rekord C is a very successful mid-range car. Produced from 1966 to 1971, the Rekord C is today considered one of the most iconic classic Opels, as well as the most successful compared to other generations (A, B, D, E) of the same series. The variants produced were many: Coupe (pictured), 2 or 4-door Sedan, 3 or 5-door Station Wagon and Van. 4,55 meters long and 1,75 meters wide, the Rekord C has a well-proportioned design characterized by elegant and tapered lines. With a weight ranging from 1000 to 1250 kilos, it is confirmed as a light car. Despite the aesthetic similarities with its predecessor, this painting is based on a totally redesigned platform, as was its mechanics: for the first time on a Rekord, the structure made use of programmed deformation zones to increase safety. The engines, all petrol, could be combined with a 3 or 4-speed manual or a 2-speed automatic gearbox. The basic engine is a 58HP โ€œ15Nโ€ 1.5; then there is a “17N” 1.7 from 60HP; a “17S” 1.7 75HP; a โ€œ19Sโ€ 1.9 90HP; and a 2.2 95HP. The brakes are disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear.
