Produced in just one generation from 1987 to 1996, the Chevrolet Beretta is a mid-sized Coupe 4,75 meters long and 1,73 large. Its name was the subject of a legal cause with the Italian brand Fabbrica d’Armi Beretta. This conflict has been resolved with a donation of 500.000$ of General Motors to the Beretta Foundation, which at the time was raising funds against cancer. The basic variant takes the code name of “CL” and features a 122HP engine. The 139HP variant of it is very similar and is named “GT”. The “GTU”, instead, features a rear spoiler, aluminum rims, and improved suspension. This variant was only available in black, white, or red colors. Since the GTU is only sold from 1988 to 1990, a new “GTZ” variant is aimed to replace it. Developed by Oldsmobile, the engine of the GTZ is a powerful 2.3 180HP 4-cylinder combined with a manual 5-speed gearbox. In 1991 a general facelift gives the Beretta a redesigned dashboard and more safety thanks to new airbags. In this circumstance, a new automatic gearbox and V6 3.1 160HP engine are introduced and sold as standard as regards the GT version and as optional on all the other variants. In 1994 the Beretta Z26 (which replaces both the GT and the GTZ) also equips this engine. The Beretta has never been a successful vehicle.
